Livestock as a Business Field Trips

We take our advanced LAB groups (2nd – 4th year groups) on and annual field trip to show them how Kenyan livestock farmers are doing their livestock business. We teach many topics “in class” (our mobile classroom). But when we visit experienced farmers’ ranches, our group members see much of what we teach them, put into practice. They hear why they farmers got into the business of selling particular cattle or goat breeds, along with their experiences, challenges and lessons learned along the way.

One topic people really needed to see for themselves was artificial insemination. It was something no-one could believe, that a cow could be impregnated without a bull. Field trips expose Maasai farmers to so much. Women often have little opportunity to travel due to lack of resources and family responsibilities. For many, LAB trips are their first time visiting other parts of Kenya.

What Our donors Are Saying

After ten years of financial support, with countless follow-up reports, conversations, photos and video clips, we made a site visit to Water is Life Kenya's Amboseli operations in late November, 2018.  The visit - and our assessment of the organization - well exceeded our expectations.
                                       --  Mandy Cabot, owner, Dansko

A few years ago, a friend invited me to a church dinner where a Water is Life Kenya speaker gave a presentation.  It changed my life.  Intrigued, I wanted to know more.... I have since donated and visited Joyce in Kenya three times with my family.
