3-Year Vision Plan Details


Water is Life Kenya (WILK) has for over a decade poured its heart into transforming lives, creating access to abundant clean water resources, equipping women to begin livestock businesses, and indirectly contributing to improved literacy and health outcomes for over 50,000 people in poverty stricken Kajiado County (southern Kenya). 

To mark our 15th anniversary in 2022, Water is Life Kenya will work to achieve the following five goals:






1. ​Water Program
• Complete three new large-scale water projects – bore holes, wells or pipelines.

• Deliver clean water to approximately 10,000 people in local Maasai communities– including 7,500 children and tens of thousands of livestock and wildlife.

• Est. Budget: $180,000— $240,000



2. Water Program Expansion


​• Expand the independent community management of all water projects through technical training.

• Include a comprehensive maintenance and replacement plan to sustain clean water.
​
• Est. Budget: $61,500 


3. ​Livestock as a Business Program



• Expand the ‘Livestock as a Business’ (LAB) Program by teaching 30 new farmer groups, impacting more than 1,000 farmers and their families.

​• Est. Budget: $243,000 


4. ​Model Farm Pilot

• Create a Pilot ‘Model Farm’ in a centralized location in Kajiado County with local communities.

• Help livestock farmers understand and implement profitable practices.

​• Est. Budget: $300,000 


5. ​Co-Operatives


• Develop and establish co-operatives for independent livestock farmers and water providers.

• Increase long-term sustainability in WILK’S water and LAB programs.
