Livestock as a Business 2020-2021 Program

Highlights: Two very strong women’s groups from very different areas. Since both groups are in remote areas, the WILK training team travels long distances for training. But we knew when we arrived, we would meet them strong, alert and energetic to start the training. It has been a pleasure to have them in the program. They have also enjoyed meeting each other and comparing differences and similarities in their life experiences. Since they come from far corners, they met for the first time at WILK trainings.

Group Info:

  • Inkaisotuak Iltuleta Women's Group – 21 women, young and old, they are excited to gain knowledge and skills. Very organized, always on time. They went back home after meetings brimming with all the things they learned, like how to work together as a group, controlling livestock diseases, managing their pastures. Their husbands and sons decided they needed this knowledge too and started coming to trainings, and now are applying to be in the program with their own groups.

  • Oloirien Olgulului Widows Women's Group – 15 women – very experienced women since, as widows, they are the head of their families. They have to handle so many things and are benefiting from learning how to plan pasture for drought as they learned about Drought Cycle Management, as well as proper methods of spraying against ticks and other disease prevention measures.

What Our donors Are Saying

After ten years of financial support, with countless follow-up reports, conversations, photos and video clips, we made a site visit to Water is Life Kenya's Amboseli operations in late November, 2018.  The visit - and our assessment of the organization - well exceeded our expectations.
                                       --  Mandy Cabot, owner, Dansko

A few years ago, a friend invited me to a church dinner where a Water is Life Kenya speaker gave a presentation.  It changed my life.  Intrigued, I wanted to know more.... I have since donated and visited Joyce in Kenya three times with my family.
